Okay to Send Late Thank You?

Tag:

Dear Ms. Cards Etiquette,
I got married 11 months ago and due to many circumstances, I have not finished my thank you notes, can I print a message saying “sorry for the tardiness” or should I write up something separate in each card?
Stacy

Thank You Card
Stacy, yes, that first year does go by quickly, doesn’t it? In another month you’ll be celebrating your first anniversary!

To answer your question, rather than spend more time sending a “sorry for the tardiness” note, go ahead and send your hand written thank you as soon as possible. Those who know your circumstances will understand and you can add a simple explanation for those who may not. You don’t need to write much, just a simple acknowledgment of the gift given and your appreciation will do.

The important factor here is that you do send a thank you to those who took the time and effort to send a gift so they know it was received. Hopefully you’ll get them completed soon so you can enjoy a Happy First Anniversary!
