Sales of Christmas cards have more than doubled this year in recent months compared to last year, said CardsDirect Inc President Ward Mahowald, adding that the company has experienced an increase of 115 percent through September 2005 over the same period last year. Plano, Texas Sept. 27, 2005 – The Christmas card industry appears to be experiencing a boom this year, reports CardsDirect Inc, one of the most successful distributors of personalized and customized holiday cards.
Sales are up in both business Christmas cards and personalized Christmas cards, as well as greeting cards in general, said CardsDirect Inc President Ward Mahowald. Related card-making companies contacted by CardsDirect are also reporting increased volume, indicating the entire industry is going to experience an exceptional year.
In part, this is a result of people buying their cards early, said Mahowald, but the trend shows no signs of slowing down. It's also unlikely an increase of this magnitude (an increase of 115 percent) is entirely the result of people buying corporate holiday cards earlier than normal, he added, although some of that may be happening. CardsDirect has seen its own sales more than double for the months of August and September compared to the same time last year. In 2004, it also experienced a significant increase in sales.
